FaceContact.com is out of its stealth mode. We became finalists at Seedcamp 2007. Now you can see our demo and very soon you will be able to use our service, which lets people build relationships with their contacts by helping each other and doing business together. Over the years, my friends and colleagues have often asked me to tap my network to help them find new clients, investors, or employees. Because we’re all active participants in various social networks, they know that I might have the contacts they are looking for. Or, even if I don’t know any potential candidates directly, my contacts probably do. But the problem is that it’s awkward and uncomfortable to ask your friends and colleagues for a favor on someone else’s behalf. That’s when we came up with the idea for FaceContact.com. We realized that the more degrees of separation there are between you and another person in a social network, the more you need to motivate those people to help you. Why? Because repeatedly asking your friends for favors will eventually make them want to avoid you. And if you’re contacting friends of friends who don’t know you personally, they’re likely to create a spam filter so that they don’t receive your requests. What’s the solution? Offer a reward! FaceContact.com is an online business tool that uses the enticement of a cash reward to facilitate networking for those individuals and companies that are searching for new clients, sponsors, investors, team members, and service providers. The “Originator” decides how large a reward to offer, and that money is placed in a pool that’s shared by anyone who helps to make a successful referral that results in a successful new engagement. With cash incentives, just imagine how quickly your network will grow. FaceContact.com eliminates all the fakeness and awkwardness of traditional networking where people are asking for favors from strangers. Now there’s a bilateral business relationship where both parties benefit from helping each other.
